Atomic Zygote

On this day, early on the morning of July 16, 1945, the Manhattan Project came to fruition with the detonation, at the "Trininty" site on what would later become the White Sands Missile range, of the first human-made nuclear explosion.

On or about this day, that day, my dad--on leave from his ship in the Pacific for the first time in about 20 months--and my mom combined in a bedroom in an adobe house in Santa Fe, about 150 miles north of the Trinity site, to create me. The timing's about right. I was born 4/20/46, about 270 days subsequent.

John Lee Hooker's the "Hootchie Kootchie Man." I'm the "Atomic Zygote," one of the first humans to be conceived in the residue of the flash of a nuclear detonation.

BOOM!
