Ah, Those Southern Trees & Their Strange Fruit

Shit like this makes me nostalgic for them good, ol' days when us Whaht fokes could jist lynch any nigra what pissed us off:
Black High School Students in Louisiana Threatened With Lynching

"In September 2006, a group of African-American high school students in Jena, Louisiana asked the school for permission to sit beneath a 'whites only' shade tree. There was an unwritten rule that blacks couldn't sit beneath the tree. The school said they didn't care where students sat. The next day, students arrived at school to see three nooses (in school colors) hanging from the tree ....," writes Rick Perlstein of TomPaine.

Jena's up in the 'cracker-barrel/po'-whaht traish' part of the state, north of Cajun country; around Alexandria, where Barksdale AFB is. I wouldn't live there on a fucking stipend. Here's Wikipedia on "race relations" in Jena:
Racial tensions surfaced in Jena on September 1, 2006, when hangman's nooses were discovered in a tree on the high school campus. Despite the school head recommending the noose-hangers be expelled, the board overruled him and the three white student perpetrators were suspended from school for three days, what some called a mere "slap on the wrist"[2]. On November 30, an arson fire destroyed the main academic building at the school. On December 4, a fight broke out on campus, after which six African-American students were arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder. Law enforcement officers told the Alexandria Daily Town Talk they have found no links between the noose incident, the arson fire, and subsequent fights. The six accused of attempted second-degree murder are black and were fighting a white student after a week of intimidation by white students, including the one who was assaulted.[3].

On june 26 the first day of trial for Bell, one of the defendants, the prosecutor agreed to reduce the charges for Bell to aggravated second degree battery and conspiracy to commit aggravated second degree battery.[4] As of june 26 there is no word as to whether the charges of the other 5 (for which the trial date is later) will be reduced.
Hence, the town has gained international notoriety as an example of the alleged "new 'stealth' racism" that lives on in America

I have been told by several black folks they prefer living in the South, where the bigotry and racism are obvious, to living places where it's less evident, but not less toxic or pervasive.

Low-Life, Neo-Fascist , Racist Scum-Site Publishes Addresses & Phone Numbers of the Jena 6, Relatives.

And the (Busheviki) FBI's "on the case," so you know they'll get to the bottom if this.
Won't they?
By BECKY BOHRER, Associated Press Writer, 9/23/07

NEW ORLEANS - The FBI is reviewing a white supremacist Web site that purports to list the addresses of five of the six black teenagers accused of beating a white student in Jena and "essentially called for their lynching," an agency spokeswoman said Saturday

Sheila Thorne, an agent in the FBI's New Orleans office, said authorities were reviewing whether the site breaks any federal laws. She said the FBI had "gathered intelligence on the matter," but declined to further explain how the agency got involved.

CNN first reported Friday about the Web site, which features a swastika, frequent use of racial slurs, a mailing address in Roanoke, Va., and phone numbers purportedly for some of the teens' families "in case anyone wants to deliver justice." That page is dated Thursday.

The Rev. Al Sharpton said in a statement Saturday that some of the families have received "almost around the clock calls of threats and harassment," and called on Gov. Kathleen Blanco to intervene.

A Blanco spokeswoman said the governor had asked law enforcement — primarily state police — to investigate.

"These people need more than an investigation. They need protection," the Rev. Jesse Jackson said. He said his organization would be in touch with President Bush's nominee for attorney general, Michael Mukasey.

"This is a test for the disposition of the Department of Justice to serve as an intervenor and a deterrent" to hate crimes and discrimination, Jackson said. He said federal marshals should protect the families.

Carolas Purvis, whose number was among three listed on the Web site, said she did not feel in danger. Purvis is the aunt of Bryant Purvis, who has yet to be arraigned. She said she has received a number of calls, some from people who say nothing, others to let her know that her number had been put on the site. One, Friday night, used the N-word to her young son, she said.

A dispatcher for the LaSalle Parish Sheriff's Department said no one in the office Saturday could say whether any threats had been reported.

Of the two other numbers listed as "active" on the Web site, one was not answered Saturday; the other yielded a constant busy signal.

On Thursday, thousands of demonstrators marched in a civil rights demonstration in support of the so-called Jena 6. The six black teens were arrested after a December attack on a white student — the culmination of fights between blacks and whites.

Of the six teens arrested, five initially were charged with attempted second-degree murder; charges for four have been reduced as they were arraigned. Charges against the sixth teen, booked as a juvenile, are sealed.

Mychal Bell is the only one to have been tried so far. A state appeals court recently threw out his conviction for aggravated second-degree battery, saying he couldn't be tried as an adult. He remained in jail pending an appeal.

William A. "Bill" White, listed as the Web site's editor and commander of the American National Socialist Workers Party, did not immediately answer an e-mail to his address. Calls to one of the two William Whites listed in Roanoke were not answered; the other said he was not involved with the site.

Blanco said Saturday that harassing families involved in the case "cannot and will not be tolerated."

"Public attacks on private citizens done out of ignorance and hatred is appalling, and anyone who stoops to such unspeakable persecution will be investigated and subject to the full penalty of law," she said in a statement.
Wadda buncha knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing crackers, none of 'em with more than a single set of grand-parents!
The link was posted frequently in the comments under the YouTube vids for the Jena 6 (Update: All links to ANSWP sites are closed/blocked on Firefox as of 8:00 am, 9/23/07). There have been almost 180 THOUSAND hits on THIS PAGE and nearly 5 THOUSAND comments. I reckon that link's in there among 'em. I saw it yesterday, though I cannot recall where...

Cracker Judge Removed From "Jena Six" Case For Prejudicial Remarks: (Truth In Reporting)

This is a bit of good news, on the justice front, where there's been precious little lately. Via Yahoo News/AP(Emphases supplied. Ed.):
By MARY FOSTER, Associated Press Writer

NEW ORLEANS - The judge overseeing the criminal cases for the remaining Jena Six defendants was removed against his will Friday for making questionable ("amazingly fucking prejudicial", Ed.) remarks about the teenagers.

Judge J.P. Mauffray Jr., ("a fucking cracker asshole from the deep piney woods," Ed.) had acknowledged calling the teens "trouble makers" and "a violent bunch" (publically, and privately, "a gang of vicious jungle-bunnies," Ed.) but insisted he could be impartial. Defense attorneys disagreed and asked that ("that fascist, cracker moron," Ed.) Mauffray be removed.

Judge Thomas M. Yeager, who was appointed by the state Supreme Court to decide whether ("that fascist asshole," Ed.) Mauffray should be taken off the case, found there was an appearance of impropriety ("And because he's a vicious, racist dickhead," Ed.)

"The right to a fair and impartial judge is of particular importance in the present cases," Yeager wrote. ("This racist cracker can't even spell 'impartial," Ed.)

Six black teens were arrested and initially charged with attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with a December 4, 2006, attack on fellow Jena High School student Justin Barker, who is white ("and was one of the white cracker/dickheads who prompted the initial racial incidents." Ed.) The charges were later reduced ("to watch your fucking mouth, honkie fuck!" Ed.)

Jesse Ray Beard, Robert Bailey Jr., Carwin Jones, Bryant Purvis and Theo Shaw now face aggravated second-degree battery charges. Beard is charged as a juvenile.

Mychal Bell is the only member of the group that has been ("rail-roaded," Ed). He was originally charged as an adult with attempted murder ("for allegedly hitting the white punk with a tennis shoe." Ed). The charge was reduced before a ("All-white", Ed.) jury convicted him last June of aggravated second-degree battery.

In September, an appeals court overturned the verdict and ordered Bell tried as a juvenile. He pleaded guilty to a juvenile charge of second-degree battery. He now lives in Monroe, La., with a foster family and is attending school.

Bell's attorney Louis Scott said he would also ask to have ("that fascist asshole," Ed.) Mauffray removed from Bell's case. Although Bell's plea will remain unchanged, Scott said he did not want ("that fascist asshole," Ed.)Mauffray to oversee the teen's probation. ("I wouldn't trust the possum-brained, redneck motherfucker than I could throw him.") Ed.)

The case aggravated racial tensions in the tiny, central Louisiana town, and led to a massive civil rights demonstration last September.

Mauffray was out of town ("at a Klan meeting," Ed., court officials said, and would not comment on the ruling.

("Another local, cracker dickhead," Ed.) District Attorney Reed Walters said he may appeal the decision. ("Walters allegedly told the defendants that if they didn't plead, he'd fuck 'em up," Ed.)

"Whatever ultimately happens concerning the judge, this does not mean these cases go away," he said. "It will just take longer to get them to trial. However, I may seek to have the decision overturned." ("I told these kneegrows I would fuck with them and now I will," he said... Ed.)

An attorney for Beard said he hoped it the Louisiana Supreme Court would quickly appoint a new judge to hear the remaining cases.

"Everyone is entitled to a fair judge, not the judge they want," attorney David Utter said. "It mystifies me why the district attorney would fight this." ("Unless he's a cracker dickhead?" Ed.)

Of Southern Trees & Their Fruits: Follow-Up

If you be's black in Jena, LA, you best bettah keep thet broad, flat nose clean, knee-grow!

Last week I posted on the racially charged situation in Jena, Louisiana, an 85% White/cracker-asshole community (3000 whites, 350 blacks) up in the piney woods around Alexandria, where black students who questioned the propriety of there being a "WHITES-ONLY" shade tree on campus, were met the next school day with nooses hung in the tree by white students protecting their racial privilege. Three white students were suspended for three days for this egregious act of racial terror.

Resentment apparently festered. In December, one of the three was met by several of the black students whom they'd sought to terrorize and who, understandably, took exception to the threats and beat the shit outta the cowardly little racist shit: kicked his in-bred, red-neck, racist ass into the middle of the next semester.

On the weekend there came the news that a black youth, who was one of six charged with replying physically to racist taunts of White racist rat-fucker students and kicking a little racist ass, was convicted of assault (sentencing set for July 31) by (soo-prahs, soo-prahs) an all-white jury, before a white judge, after prosecutors lowered the charges from attempted murder. Said a friend of the convicted teen's family:"The best thing, if you're black in this town, is to stay out of the system, because once they get you, you're done for. You're not getting out." Blacks constitute only just over 10% of the population of LaSalle Parish, where Jena is situated, making the seating of black jurors improbable at best.

I bet ya never imagined that could still happen in color-blind (the SCROTUS sez so) Murka, now didja?
A longer account of the situation, the circumstances, and the probable outcomes is presented by MSNBC here.

If No Noose Is Good Noose, There's MORE Bad Noose

Cuz they've been seen, after the publicity around the events in Jena, La, all over the country:
First, there was an incident in Alexandria, LA (about 40 miles from Jena) where an unnamed 16 year old and 18 year old Jeremy Munsen were arrested with two nooses hanging from the back of Munsen's pickup truck. The 16 year old told police his family was in the KKK, and that brass knuckles and unloaded rifle found in the car belonged to him. Then, 4 nooses were found at a high school in High Point, North Carolina. The nooses were found hung from the main flagpole, in a parking lot, and (two) hung in a tree at the front of the school. Also, there were the two nooses at the Coast Guard Academy. One was left in the bag of a black cadet in July, the other in the office of an officer who conducted a race relations training.

Up here in the North, it's a similar story. Outside of Chicago, an unidentified student drove to Warren Township High School with a noose hanging from his rearview mirror. Worse yet, people are trying to excuse it, using a variation on the same ludicrous excuses we're hearing from those down South.
The latest recrudescence of this meme was reported in Nassau County, NY.

For Lessons In Just How Low USers Can STILL Sink

Go to YouTube and search { Jena Six }...E.G.:
Read the comments under ANY of the entrants and revel in your countryfolks' sentiments. Do NOT, then, try to tell me that racism is dead, or even wounded, in the USofA.
And do NOT make the mistake of confusing black resistance to the NEXT century of oppression with any kind of 'racism.' In the USofA, only white folks may be legitimately named 'Racist.'
